11. Desert Safari
The most popular day or night excursion from Abu Dhabi is a desert safari south of the emirate of Abu Dhabi, either to the beautiful Liwa oasis, which is just on the edge of the empty district or to the Al Khatim Desert near Al Ain.
The Desert of the Empty Quarter is home to the largest sand dunes in the world. The dunes of both regions are a fantastic playground for those who want to ride a dune buggy, sandboard, camel trekking, or simply enjoy the vast starry desert sky after dark in a desert camp. Most trips include stops to visit a camel farm to sample traditional life in the desert, as well as to visit the dunes themselves.
