2. Louvre Abu Dhabi

The Louvre Abu Dhabi, the most spectacular museum in the Middle East, traces the entire history of humanity’s artistic achievements, from the Neolithic to the present day. The richness and diversity of the art on display, from ancient Egyptian statues to Picasso’s famous paintings, is astounding, while the museum’s contemporary architecture, with its galleries gathered under a huge silver dome, is a reason to visit.
In addition to the permanent collection, which includes more than 12 galleries, there are several large temporary exhibitions each year. The Louvre is the first of three major museums planned on Saadiyat Island, which is expected to become the cultural heart of Abu Dhabi in the coming years. The other two – the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and the Zayed National Museum – are still in the planning phase.
